many things ain't going smoothly....
something happened at work on friday.
had a tiff with my closest partner abt a week ago.

is it me? or the environment?

recently, all i could portray to him was all the happy things.
how to tell him what had happened when we both ain't at the closest, at the right time?

i feel like giving up a lot of things.
i can't be standing up straight, head's up and talking confidently.
this had happened before and i do not want history to repeat itself..

this is so not me.
been portraying all the positives stuffs about every single thing i've told him.
one side trying so hard to stay strong, but yet i'm not.

even though i recieved setbacks,
tell me? who can i talk to? who can i open up with?

i hope he will be someone who is my best friend and bf.
someone who can really talk from the bottom of their sincere heart.

sometimes, i feel very disappointed with myself..

it has been about half a year i've last posted.

this semester was quite a tough one.
modules are definitely tougher, so are those exams.
but i hope i'm fighting well..
'just do your best & never give up.'

internship is starting in hmm.. prolly in a week's time?
as for the whole week starting from tmrr, will be attending talks under SHIP programme.

kind of excited, and at the same time a feeling of 'unknown'.
hahaha. mixed feelings!
well.. let's embrace it with a smile!

alvin's going away for a leadership camp and huimin's going hongkong tmrr!
having maybe a farewell breakfast for huimin w jerlin and dinner for alvin ltr on.
hoping for them to be back safe and sound.
dearly misses!

i can't bear to part with you, although it'll be one month.
it may seems nothing but it's more than just a month to me.

now, we're in two different parts of the world, adapting to two different lifestyles.

the ups and downs that we've faced, the joys and sorrows we've shared,
it ain't easy to let go and have lesser contact, for we've spent so much time together.

true love ain't easy to find.

the last hugged that we held on so tightly in your room, refusing to let go.
the scene, that makes it all, ascertain our feelings for each other.

for the last 5 hours before u depart, it's just unbearable, it's hard to hold back my tears.
couldn't stop wishing for the time to stop.

i'll miss you so much, hoping for ur return anytime soon, safe and sound.
you'll be fine and alright just the way you are before u left.

woohoo~
i went to highlight my hair!
somewhat red, as recommended by the hairdresser.

and the best part,
this is my FIRST TIME ENTERING A SALON! xp!
normally i would go to home salon or those student haircut @ 7bucks.
went into this salon called Hairdo @ waterloo street, introduced by a cousin.

as it was my first time doing highlight,
feared for the results and decided to tell the hairdresser 'i don't wanna too obvious' .
guess what?
he went to highlight the inner part of my hair, assuring me it'll not be too obvious.
alamak, shouldn't have said that.

although the outcome is not really what i want,
it was still nicely done!
good job!

hmm.. treat this as a starting point,
went for a small change for 'not too obvious' highlighting. ahaa! =)

feeling excited for tmrr!
going for taekwondo exam, from white to yellow belt.
ahaa, my first time.
but in the long run, taekwondo?
hmm... am i cut out for it?

unknowingly, it's 2011 !

2010 had been a great year for me,
although i can't forget how i spent mid 2009 onwards with a happy heart!
because a major change took over my life.

foresee 2011 will be a difficult year to handle,
it'll be an eventful one, coming to year 3 and all..
no matter what, let's press on..

looking at the bright side,
it is an exciting year for 4 of my cousins who are getting married.

lots of happenings today,
the feel at work today is totally different.

farewell lunch from team at korean restaurant in boat quay.

deepika likes my dull green dress very much,
wore a couple of times and said it to me each time i wore it.
'i really like your dress very much, where did u get it?'
'u look so baby-ish'
the very polite AVP who always thank me for all the help and address me as Mdm or Miss K.
laugh.

i feel kind of heartache that all 3 candidates failed to meet her requirements,
there's no replacement for me at the moment.
'don't go, kai xin.'

celine was the SVP who interviewed me,
i could still remember clearly how it went.
thanks for the welcome and farewell lunch that she brought us to.
'kai xin don't sit on the stool, take the back-rest chair'
'how are u coping with work? manageable?'

deepika has given me a bracelet,
'keep it because i like you' .
kat bought me a very beautiful pair of earrings from chomel.

there's a few more to be name, let's keep it short.

the company or in fact the HR department has given me lots of memories and experiences,

talked about everything at work, burst into laughter, laugh till we cried because there's really humorous event happening.

this is my first time to reach the office and to set up my laptop and all in the fastest time.

wanna thanks to both of them waiting for me to knock off tgt last night.
i was gonna finish my work so tonight we can go out early after we knock off.

we left the office at about 7.15pm.
it was my first time staying till late when the sky had turned dark.
the feeling of looking out at the window, seeing that u'll still working under the dark sky was not that bad.
perhaps it was my first time, other people see it otherwise.

i don't know how am i feeling now.
some asked me do u feel sad? happy?
won't you miss the food and all?
are u leaving HSBC to go another bank and all sorts of question.

hmm.. i can swear that i can't really bear to part with them.
i'll miss the delicious food,
miss having coffee breaks, shopping with kat,
going to the lounge which is ultimately cold,

this is my second last day with HSBC.

just got a call from my senior consultant in recruit express regarding about the 3 replacements for me.
she said i've speak better, with more confidence :D
hmm.. maybe?
have been scheduling and answering calls here and there.

will be going to interview the 3 of them with deepika tmrr.
kind of excited.

and i noticed those who are going farewell lunch for me are nicely dressed today!

but, hmm.. am not really prepared to leave yet.
everyone has been so nice to me,

wondering why is my nose like this?
somehow like morning flu, but not everyday.

ever since i come to work early in the morning, i'll start having block nose on the train,
and when i reach the office i'll keep blowing my nose.

deepika turned ard and tapped my back asking if i'm okay, i nodded.

i don't know but i feel the nerves in my brain is hurting, did i blow too hard?
i feel my brain is heavy, seems like it is being filled with lots of 'things'.

with regards to the departure of Lee Kuan Yew's wife,
i'm truly impressed and envy by how the 87 years old devoted husband bade goodbye to his wife with a red rose and a final kiss.

below are a few points which i'm touched by the loving couple:

They spend more than 3 quarters of their lives together.
His companion of 63 years have been tgt since they were law students in London.
He was dealing with grief that "cannot be expressed in words" for his wife's death.
They would walk around the Istana gardens in the evening and they would swim.
His most difficult moment is at the end of each day as he sat by the bedside of his wife, who has been unable to speak or move after a major brain haemorrhage.
She understood him when he talked to her which he did every night.
She kept awake for him as he told her about his day's work & read her favourite poems.
He would try and keep her company for as long as he can & expressed uncertainty of who's going first, whether she or him.
When he kissed her on her cheek, she would told him not to come too close in case he caught her pneumonia.
She asked the maid to take one of the peaches home for his lunch when she was given some of them in the hospital.
She devoted herself to him and her children and would always be there when he needed her.
He was at the centre of her life.
He could find solace at her 89 years of her life well lived.
Her stoic presence next to him during times of turbulence and tension in the many years of his political struggle.

Stongly agreeing with behind every successful man is a great woman and she had been the pillar of strength for her husband.

If I were to be one of the fortunate girl,
I would certainly hope to have a blissful marriage,
happily married to a man who's worth spending a lifetime with.

it has been awhile i came to work at exactly 8.30am.
today is exceptional,
as i woke up to have breakfast in compass with aunts and cousin today.

has been waking up at abt 7.30 instead of 7!
ended up coming to work at 8.50 for the past 2 weeks.

i'm glad they are flexible with your start/end time and lunch hours.

however i feel incredibly tired now,
oh god, very much wanted to lie my head on the laptop.
sigh..

finally the fast working pace slowed down,
was quite busy for the past 2 days.

went to buy holicks instead of the usuals coffee or milk tea earlier on.
quite tasty!
should have buy holicks more often,

and i'm quite relieve as deepika smiles often today and she put on lipstick!
proves that she has the mood to doll up this morning and she told me it is because of the hectic times, she decided to start the day happily! :D

just came back from making an offer to jian liang (HGIP) with deepika.

lol. it was the first time deepika is thorough with making the offer,
and it was also the first time the meeting room is filled with laughter, all thanks to her.

some memorable parts:

there's a letter which jian liang have to write his name and department on but he has enquiries.
and deepika replied that he have to refer to his offer letter to write his department.
when he turned to his offer letter,
deepika put on a serious look and ask him, 'so you want to double check your name?'
and i know he was holding back his laughter and was nodding away, added that he was looking for the department name.

for me, i couldn't hold it!
because there were also some other small comical details in between.
for a moment, i felt like running out of the room and lol before coming back.
but it's inappropraite so i just hold on!

deepika asked, 'why are you laughing, kai xin?'
'deepika, you're humorous' i replied.
jian liang was laughing and nodded his head, pointing his finger towards her in agreement!

haha, deepika went off for another meeting and leave the rest to me.

we chatted for a moment, he asked about deepika and myself.
when i said i'm still studying in TP, he immediately said, 'i don't like TP.'
why?
because of their basketball team.
oh, i saw your resume, u came from NTU basketball team right, saw a few achievements of urs.
ya, we always lose to TP bball's team, damn sian.
the last two games, TP came in first and we were 2nd and 3rd for the different rounds.
hahaha, icic!
TP is quite good in sports, especially dragonboat too.
yup, they have national players over there.
he told me about one of the guy's name, but i forgot who is it.
he is a creature.
uh? replying in laughter.
he is rough, big size and ugly.
lol???

ic, TP is good in cca but i'm not sure abt academic wise.
hmm.. i think they are the same in qualifications.

it warms my heart when i heard this from deepika.

it started when she saw the two packets of breads on my table.
she thought it was cake and asked if it is anyone birthday?

i shooked my head and further question when's my birthday.
from there, we chatted for about 15mins..
talked about family, relationship, what am i going to do after my education and etc.

and she said 'i'm sure your dad is proud to have such a pretty and capable daughter'.
asked about what's the meaning of my name,
and replied 'your parents had given the right name to you, i can see you're a very cheery and happy person'.
she wished me all the best and hoping to work with her again in HSBC.
i hope so too!

introduce by one of my RMs.
they sell awesome raisins and cheese bread @ 1.30 dollar!
wanted to get 4 home but the lady infront of me bought a dozen and so i bought another 2 mash potatoes with nachos flavour.
it was pipping hot!
but guess when i reach home, it'll be cold.
but it's just as nice as when we consumed it in the office after a while! :D

It was so 'blurish' outside,
from within i couldn't hear how heavy the rain is but definitely it's not drizzling.
heard some soft thunder.
no wonder it's very cold now, am shivering =S

last week deepika turned over and said this to me 'kai xin, good job'.
i was ??? she replied 'good job for screening, the candidates are good'.
and had moved on to screen managerial post.

now, i saw familiar names which the hiring managers wanna hire. haa.

and i just ate 2 pieces of cheesecakes from Hilton Singapore!
some recruitment firm bought it for HR.
deepika is really a sweet person,
she would explain things nicely and clearly to me, sometimes chat and asked about my well being.

she took 3 pieces of cheesecakes and insisted on me having 2 of them.
as i know some of the days she'll skip lunch for work so i'd want her to eat 2 pieces.
and she argued back as i'm being younger here should eat more.

and since mon, she has been asking 'kai xin, are u really going back to sch?'

feels a lil bad about answering yes, but i have to.
and jokingly replied i'll be back the next long vacation which is next April? haa.

sigh.
can't bear to leave my work and what more assisting such a pleasant lady.
and she had recently promoted to AVP, the workload she have sometimes is really heavy.

i can feel my absense is putting pressure on her b'cos after she had promote to AVP,

woah.

now the office window is crowded with colleagues!
haha, they are watching the F1 race.
I'm not sure if it had started b'cos my butt is stucked on the chair.

went for coffee break with kathryn around 3plus and we saw the F1 cars warming up.
the noise is not tt loud though, but able to have the taste of the 'racing feel' .
the road closure was set up pretty early in the morning as liane was chased off the bus two stops earlier than she was supposed to get off.
she was shocked that the driver said 'pls get off, this is the last stop' and she walked all the way here.

watched one of the F1 cars swifted past 2 years ago during chingay parade at esplanade.
it was an eye opener for me as it was ultimately fast and giving out deafening sound.
it wasn't a noise at all but a blast exciting one!

everyone is not getting on their work and still stand by the windows! lol.

okay, knocking off soon.
hope i can see one of the cars race past again by chance.

met up with Alvin last night to 'ti deng long' ,
had so much fun and carried hello kitty latern!
hahahahah, reminiscence the past when i was a little kid.
hello kitty show had this part of lyrics that goes "hello kitty, every saturday" lol. xp

received several souvenirs from colleagues,
from korea, india, taiwan & hongkong.
guess they are clearing leaves towards the end of year.

right now, i can't wait to leave office.
gotta eat plenty of mooncakes at aunt's house today.

on a side note, i think i'm having retribution for eating so much ytd.
had sore throat which led me to eat fish porridge for lunch today. =(

ytd was super bored.
in fact i was dozing off infront of the laptop! i just can't help it!

today was slightly better! or perhaps much better, as i need to screen 80plus CVs for HGIP Customer Service Associate and HGIP Payment and Cash Mgmt position.
i hope i could be able to apply for HGIP internship programme too after i grad from Uni, hopefully.
i wanna work in HSBC.
hmm.. might be too early to decide anyway.

and thanks for the peppermint bullseyes sticky candies that love bought it, it keeps me awake!

okay, other than there's something to keep me real busy today, the happy thing is i had a satsified meal at conference level.
delicious & healthy sandwiches and eclair! hahaha.
can tell that the bread is of top quality, didn't know they serve our clients with good food.
or they won't serve anything.
the various kind of meeting rooms that are available at the conference level is an eye-opener to me.
a very scenic place of Senton Way from the view down.
but the view can't be compared to level 56th floor of UOB plaza 2.

and when i got back to my desk, i received mac voucher worth 10bucks! haha.

gotta continue screening, i hope i don't disqualified candidates that are not really meant to which means they will be rejected from the job that they have applied.
i will leave it and let deepika screen instead.
sighh.. feels bad.
i hope to accept as much as possible but certainly there's a min criteria u have to look out for.

Ohayo!

WOW. This is surprising!
I'm currently working in HR department at HSBC building, 21 Colleyer Quay, just beside Fullerton Hotel and i can't believe that i have access to blogger.
hahahah, because most of the website is not allowed under the Group Web Access Policy.
Access is denied even for my hotmail, much less said for youtube.

How am I able to send mails, read mails and all?
We are using Lotus Notes! haha.
Within Lotus Notes, we have e-calendar which is able to set reminder, send calendar invite such as arranging interviews for line managers and able to send lunch invite to peers!
hahaha, how great it is. love it!
Besides that, we have visitior schedule which is to send in visitors/interviewees/candidates' schedule.
HSBC Conference Centre which is for room booking is available too and HSBC mail box.
Oh ya, we have something called IBM Lotus Sametime Connect which is similar to MSN!
But of course, it is only used to connect with people in the whole of HSBC building.

Alright, sometime to whine about my job
My duty is quite routine as i just need to screen candidate's CV, called them up and their respective line managers for the different departments for scheduling their interviews, room booking, sending calendar invite and update visitor schedule.

Hmm.. what a mundane job but .... i'm happy working here!
All my 3 Relationship Managers (RM) which is also Senior Vice President (SVP) and one whom i'm assisting for is Deepika, Assistant Vice President (AVP) are amiable!

and 3 more recently graduated from uni colleagues, having fun and chatting over lunch break.
Sigh.. guess i'm the only youngest employee working here.

CEO is a Caucasian man who sits in this level too.
He would greet when he walked past you. Said 'Hi' to me a couple times!

met up with kok kian, bus and train down to expo.

back from salvo camp !

day 1
met up w desmond in hougang and headed off to tp.
had ice-breaking/bonding session.
went to LT 19 for some 'lecture' after lunch.
got to know more about salvo, the background & origins of it.
especially the 24 festivals,
grouped under spring, summer, autumn and winter .
interesting.

day 2
back to camp at 9, for day 1 isn't overnight.
training starts.
afterwards had drums maintenance,
had an enjoyable time painting the drums though the sun is scorching.
supposed to end at 6, but we ended abt 4 instead.
lol, running after ppl to paint on them.
the seniors are hilarious, marcus kena the most of it.
the rest ain't better too !

after cleaning w thinner, another one came and paint.
cleaning is never ending.

had some cheers w the girls .
jane and the others are humorous.

dinner and games .
seperated into groups.

yea, it's newly open & it's totally different from the rest of the temple i've visited.
i think this is a modern kind of version, kind of classy .

his nonchalant attitude towards study, unlike those die hard muggers .
this is bad .
& envy his carefree joys of childhood.
very much more interesting than mine, of course.

they're out aft e long wait,
chilling out at mac till abt 7plus and train back .

volleyball in siloso w huimin, jer, mel, desmond & jun da.
des is another comical fellow!

and thks to e very fine weather,
though it was scorching hot .
at the very least, it was not raining at all .
and u know, rainy weather these days.

& suddenly there was this group of indians joining us,
they're a fine bunch of ppl;
funny & friendly.

jun da is the main shooter,
des is the server,
the rest are players.
we continued after they left .
yeah, had fun & enjoyment at the beach :D

feels like buying e volleyball @ sentosa..
really feels like buying, but i'm like - not always using it.

done w my medical check up @ RafflesMedical causeway,
but had x-ray in SATA.
they've put up a specially arranged section for poly students in SATA.
displaying placards right from the entrance where one has to take a Q no first to where they will be seated .
they even show e steps for doing e check-up.

ain't they thoughtful ?

shop ard in causeway pt w mom afterwards.
finally i've bought my jeans.

& i think there's sth wrong abt e results of my health,
will do a follow up check up soon .

but after reading my pulse, e doctor asked if i exercises a lot ?
i replied yea, kinda for swimming & jogging.
& she mention tt e rate of my heartbeat slows down when she read my pulse .
i think she said sth like this .
and i asked what did she mean .
she replied ur heart is fit, that's very good .

why the slashing and killing in university ?
first it was in the U.S , but now it took place in our very own country.

i really detest those bombs/wars or whatever that may harm a country,
causing misery to its people .
simply don't understand why the trouble to obtain whatever one may yearn for.

damn regretted for not purchasing 6 pieces for 7bucks instead of $6 for 4 pieces!
very regret b'coz it's quite well taken .

didn't know andy was catching up w my pace on the linkway down to NS line.
i was running late .
shocked enough to see him for he's working night shift .
anw, he was heading to kallang to help out in e morning.

am glad to work w huimin after such a long time.
knocked off tgt and had dinner in cathay 'ri ben chun' .
this time we had our desserts. aha .

walked back to ps.
and realised i've lost my purse only after 2 hrs ltr !
dragged ourselves back to ri ben chun.
oh god .
thank goodness it was at the counter .
anw, my purse had nth valuable except for e old ez-link card which i wanted to keep.

had opening w amanda, ah hong, cai and leong .
iwayean's leaving s'pore on the 17th,
but ytd was his last day of work .

he's really a nice working mate .
we always tease him using chinese, especially those chefs who taught him bad things.
when he couldn't argue back, he would just smile and walk away .
else, wrote sth on the paper .

thus ytd ah hong and an wei decided to surprise him like what they did last time to another staff who had left for his country too.
they threw eggs and flour on him when we had closed!

oh dear, we even video it down - only as memory.
we'll definitely miss him very much.

hoping he'll pay us a visit somedays .
